Much Love Monday: October 31, 2011

Happy Monday and Happy Halloween to you :) It's a pretty low key Monday as Halloween isn't widely celebrated here. I did get a chance to dress up this weekend and headed to the Armageddon Expo! (It's like Comic-Con in the USA) I'll post some photos of that later.

This Monday I am loving these adorable yellow blouses. I'm searching for a yellow peter pan collared blouse. My friend Cori sent me an amazing 1960s vintage pencil skirt, and it'd look lovely with these tops! I can't wait to show you.

I really, really, really loved this uni fashion blog entry and photos

It reminds me if my days being at uni. I hardly slept while in school but always tried to put together a fun outfit :)

I also saw this movie and can't stop thinking about it. I loved it so much. There's more here than what you see at first glance!

My junkie TV habits are back, looking forward to more Gossip Girl, The New Girl and America's Next Top Model All-Stars.

Blind To Blue Skies...

Last, last weekend we drove further south into the Waikato country, Matamata, driving through Cambridge and Hamiltron. Okay, it's Hamilton :)

The weather in New Zealand is either a win or lose situation for me. When I'm walking everywhere which is 90% of the time, the sun and occasional cloudy day is ideal. When those grey clouds build up and the torrential rain comes down on me, it's no fun getting soaked while taking public transportation on the way to work! They do say that NZ needs all the rain it can get, so it can stay so green and pretty.

You know that rock n' roll band "The Datsuns"??? Apparently, people think they're from Australia, but they're not! Totally New Zealand, and this is where they come from...beautiful quaint Cambridge. "Like a motherf+ckr from h+ll!"

Chris and I have a few trips planned, so I'm really looking forward to it! Time to escape and get inspired.

Hope you're having a lovely weekend. I am so darn happy I get to sleep in tomorrow.

Diwali y Los Pumas

Thanks for sticking around with this blog even though it's been dead lately. I was busy playing host this weekend, and now I'm sick!

Here's a few photos from about 2.5 weeks ago. We met up with our friend Jeff for the Diwali festival. We ate our way through the street. Curries, dahi puri, samosas and mango lassis! YUM! And then we walked around the viaduct and Wynyard Quarter just before the NZ All Blacks vs. Argentina Pumas game.

Much Love (Belated) Monday: October 24, 2011

Happy (belated) Much Love Monday! (I wrote this last night, but didn't get a chance to finish and post it.)

It's Labour day in New Zealand and a day of celebrations. The New Zealand All Blacks won the Rugby World Cup last night. Downtown Auckland was pure chaos. Queen Street was a sea of black and white, and the streets were filled with hundreds of thousands of people. It's been so fun! And I'll never forget this moment in history. Congrats to the All Blacks :) I have so many more photos to share which I'll post later.

Well geez! I don't know what I did before the rugby world cup. Oh, I ate a lot healthier and didn't have so many drinks. I've lost my voice and haven't been so healthy, especially this week. EEEPS!

They think twice, about where they're anchoring...

When I was a little girl, my mom always dressed me up in sailor dresses. I assume it was because my father was a marine officer. He travelled the seven seas as a third mate. He was just moments away from becoming a captain; however, he couldn't take it anymore. He eventually moved back to the land! And that was how he met my mother. :)

messy hair, tights, maryjanes, mismatched bag, barrettes and a sailor dress...
as you can see, not much as changed! My mama started all of this :)
For the pinay bloggers out there, that's PBA player Dale Singson behind me. LOL, he's my mom's first cousin.

I usually try to avoid the cheaply made high street stuff because it doesn't last long, but I couldn't resist this jacket.

"Sometimes, when sailors are sailing
They think twice, about where they're anchoring
And I think, I could make better use of my time on land"

If you know where those lyrics are from, you have my heart.

I used to have a hair cut just like this! And the black & white top just like her! I remember discovering her and thinking, she looked eerily familiar! Except, she was much cooler than me. I still want all her clothes!

I still have her book and postcards.

Best of Rugby World Cup 2011 (part one)

On September 9th, the Rugby World Cup kicked off in New Zealand. Downtown Auckland was flooded with some 100,000 people celebrating. Chris and I also saw rugby great Jono Lomu leaving a hotel! I snapped a photo paparazzi style.

FYI: The Rugby World Cup happens once every 4 years! It feels like Auckland is hosting the Olympics.

At work, we had our own celebrations where we dressed up representing each of the 20 countries in this competition. We even had a fun pep rally for it. We've gone to the fan zone downtown catching many of the games, sometimes dressing up! It has been SO MUCH FUN!

Rugby LEGEND Jonah Lomu! HOLY MOLY!!!!!!!!!

Tonight, if New Zealand beats Australia...NZ will continue on to the championship next week to face off France. Australia is one of NZ's biggest rivals. If NZ wins tonight, there may be riots. :P Sorry to my Aussie friends, but I'm definitely hoping the All Blacks win here! GO The ABS!

EDIT 11:14PM: NEW ZEALAND WON!!!!! :)

Stay tuned for part two!

Marc Jacobs & $20

Sometimes it's really easy for me to just hole up inside our apartment when the weather looks like this. But since starting this blog, I have refused to let the weather defeat me. Auckland rain has been really mild this winter, so we've definitely lucked out! WAKE UP & LIVE! But as of right now the relentless rain and clouds are back. Summer! I can feel you somewhere in the distance.
