A ModCloth Look by Me

One of my favorite brands ModCloth (yes!) asked me to participate in their Uniquely You campaign. I've written about them several times on this blog, so it was a no-brainer. I'm a BIG fan of vintage-inspired style, and I often covet their dreamy dresses. 

Mod Stylist Amy H. asked me to put a look together on Polyvore with the Lead by Example Dress matched up with several other pieces on their website. See below: I can feel slight hints of Spring approaching, so I wanted to keep it sunny! It's going to be a glorious Spring and Summer!

Summer Days

I wanted to show you the beautiful sails along my running route. Some days I wake up to the fresh salty air. Some days it feels like Autumn in Las Vegas. I like both.

I hope you're having a lovely summer!
What have you been up to?
I finished school, finished a huge project/presentation for a client and earned my PR certificate.
I joined a new professionals group.
My family came to visit, and we moved into a new apartment.

So far, I've seen Camera Obscura, attended a few birthday parties, gone dancing at soul night, listened to funny stories with friends in a mostly empty baseball field at 4 in the morning, a spontaneous last-minute trip to Portland (I live for these moments) happy hours with friends, summer jogs along the viaduct, went on a mini-cruise in the sound, more food festivals, touristy spots, city views, and gushed over the Bachelorette. I haven't really had much free time to myself. I always wish to achieve the perfect balance of work, relaxing and productivity.

I just found out that I'll likely get time off during the holidays. My brain started going spastic crazy thinking about all the places I want to visit. That's the old part of me that I love.

I want to take on a 30 day blog challenge. I think I can do it! Maybe, it'll help me break my silence. Here's an old favorite dress.

Clueless, BFC & Girl Power

These photos have been out for a while, but I couldn't help but think about my good girl friends Lady C & Crassy Wallace.

Not only have we already imitated photos like this, but last summer we rewatched Clueless missing the sass of the 90s.

Dionne, Cher and Tai, I think we are a little bit of each.

If I could remember a time in my life when I felt so empowered, it was when I surrounded myself with an army of women.

A serious reunion needs to happen soon, but we have to conquer sleep deprivation first. Visits home are always a mad dash of stress. Maybe we can convince Christie to come up here and join us! This photo is definitely Christie!

Summer Stories: 4th of July

Reverse culture shock is a strange thing. I spent the summer adjusting to the (reverse) weather that I was once accustomed to living here four years ago. I wore red, white and blue and ran into my work colleague on the bus all decked out. HAHA! me <===== nerd

We spent a happy fourth of July celebrating in Capitol Hill with C & P and Sarah. We ate vege burgers at Blue Moon and watched the fireworks at Lake Union.

Sunny Day Real Estate

Hello, it's been a while since my last style post. I was a lot better at the before, and I apologize. I'm hoping the next time I get back to Vegas I can bring back my tripod! And then I won't have to bother Chris anymore. We walked home after dinner; he was holding our leftovers and took two photos as fast as possible. HAHA!

I wasn't in New Zealand when the Missoni riots broke out. This was a nice surprise when my buddy in NZ gave this blouse to me. She said it was more me. We swapped more clothes later! I love bold prints.

This blog has gone in many different directions. Today, I really wanted to blog about all the old music I've been listening to lately. When I was a teenager, I grew up listening to punk, pop punk, hardcore and emo. Today, I couldn't stop listening to Sunny Day Real Estate which is so fitting since I now live in Seattle!

Some of my other old forever favourites bands from that time were Saves The Day, Lifetime, Kid Dynamite. I want to make a 90s/00 playlist. I also want to share a summer playlist loaded with all the Brit pop/indie/shoegaze/nugaze airy music that I also love.

Champs-Élysées

Hello! I am back. Whenever I think I'm back on a fairly regular schedule, the pains of settling into a new city come back to me. Half of the summer is gone, and Chris and I are trying our best to enjoy the little time we do have together. If we are lucky, we get one day off together once a week. These photos were taken one month ago [blogging fail :(]. We happily tried the coffee and chai lattes at our local cafe! I adore this urban space and love our neighborhood.
I found this dream vintage blouse via Crossroads! Las Vegas has a replica Arc de Triomphe. I've spent many nights in Vegas at these tacky replica sights wishing I were at the real thing. Hopefully, one day I'll see Champs-Élysées with my own eyes.

That day we ate beans on toast thanks to Chris' friends in New Zealand! And we met up with C&P and Chance browsing the local antique and throwback sportswear shops. We heard the Pete & Pete soundtrack at another cafe in Capitol Hill. The barista smiled when we recognized it.

My alma mater! I'll always be a Runnin' Rebel at heart. I got accepted at the University of Washington for a certificate program! UW is an AMAZING school, and I'm feeling incredibly honored to have such talented professors . I'm in Pac 12 husky territory now, but I'm still a rebel. :)

Style Post: Teenage Riot

Well, well! I know it's been a while since I've posted one of these. You'll have to excuse all my photos as they're all being taken with my phone. They look cloudy to me. I'm still waiting on my DSLR to get fixed. :(

A few nights ago I went out for a nice cocktail with Lady C at Tini Bigs, ate veggie chili fries/delicious sandwiches at The Honey Hole! They always play such good music there. I heard Sonic Youth the first time I went. We went to sing karaoke afterward at Rock Box.

Red, White & Blue Patriot

Hello my friends! I apologise for the lack of outfit posts/style blogging around these parts. I don't have much to share since we're cleaning out for our big move. BUT that'll change soon. Since my life has been in a constant state of transition and limbo for the past few years, I haven't really maintained by wardrobe. In fact, I've been downsizing for the last year! I'm hosting a clothing swap party with my girl friends next week, and that'll be my chance to get rid of all the clothes I don't wear/don't fit me anymore. Everything else will be donated. AHHH, it's going to be FUN! Cocktails and living room fashion shows.

Fashion is fun AND frivolous! I can't wait to reconstruct the wardrobe and get a little bit more creative again, within reason of course. It'll be nice starting over. :)

In *ahem* January, Chris and I took a nice stroll into the city and stopped at Myers Park for a few photos. I'm wearing a 60s/70s inspired shift dress. The dress is a size too big for me, but I couldn't not have it. I've always been a dress girl. Simple and comfortable + the time spent to get ready is cut in half = happy husband.

This is on one of the rare summery days that Auckland experienced this summer.


Chris and I are just taking it all in and enjoying our last few weeks here in Auckland. It is rainy, rainy outside, but it's nice to be cozy inside with a cup of tea listening to the rain. These next few weeks are going to fly by, and I just want to enjoy the best of what Auckland has to offer. AMERICA HERE WE COME!

Dunedin/South Island Nov. 2011 (part one)

I'll be mixing in these backdated updates from our trip in November. This was my first time to the South Island and the furthest South I have ever been in the world! Dunedin is the second largest city in the South Island.


These were my first impressions of Mosgiel, Dunedin and the surrounding area.


These guys were so cool sitting on their hotel window. The Bob Dylan-esque man was playing harmonica, and he waved to me. I tried to envision what the Flying Nun days were like in this old music scene.



We walked around the Octagon area (centre city), and took photos in front of St. Paul's Cathedral.



There is a strong Scottish influence in Dunedin's history and architecture.

I wore my vintage cape, which was basically a nice warm blanket. It was perfect to travel in.

And this was only the beginning...beer and chocolate were to be had! We've become loyal to these iconic NZ/Dunedin brands.

November Birthday Recap

Nearly one month later, I want to thank you all so much for your lovely birthday messages. It made my day. :)

I had a wonderful birthday! At midnight, Chris surprised me with chocolates and two CD's I wanted for some time now...the new Cut Off Your Hands and The Outsiders cds.
(He bought me my much coveted crochet dress from Forever New months ago.)
Later that night, Chris surprised me with dinner at our favourite Indian restaurant and he invited our good group of friends. I had no idea they were going to be there.

I got so many amazing presents! And I wasn't even expecting any of this.

At the end of the night, I posed with New Zealand's once eligible bachelor now recently taken off the market, hunky Dan Carter. HAHAHA :)

I had such a great night catching up with everyone. I'm trying not to get too sentimental since this is a big birthday for me gratefully spent with some great friends...and another birthday spent a long way from home.

As a big birthday present to myself, we planned a trip to the South Island and explored Dunedin, the Otago countryside and Queenstown. It was surreal. I can't wait to share some photos with you.
