A Very Little Christmas

FREE DOWNLOAD! INDIE, FOLK, POP Christmas album! It has all original songs. I highly suggest you download this album here:

It features many bands from New Zealand.

The songs are so lovely. My favourite is a song called, “French Kissmas.” Imagine Serge Gainsbourg and Brigitte Bardot singing a 2010 Christmas song, but Kiwis (Chelsea Jade & James Duncan) have put their own flavour in it. LOVE IT!

Breakfast at...

Tiffany's Michael H.
Last weekend, we did what most girls dream of or watch in movies. We bought my wedding ring!

I wore my red dress which only half resembles this dress, pretending to be Anna Karina.

Chris and I walked around the city all day, running wedding errands.
We bought my wedding band at Michael Hill. I absolutely love it. It was a once in a lifetime moment.
And then I was Holly Golightly. Except, this ring didn't come from a Cracker Jack box. =)

Vegas, Baby Vegas!

I went back home to Vegas for the first time in 16 months. After 10 months away, I could feel myself dying inside. There is so, so, so much I miss about home. (America in general) It felt so good to unleash and just be myself in my natural surroundings. I wasn't as socially awkward. I think my people skills are the worst in the work place. Perma-culture shock. Would you believe that I've lived in New Zealand now for 2 years! EEEPS.

I was home for only about 6 days total! It was completely worth it. I hardly slept, tried to catch up with all of the amazing friends~! Jermee came in from LA, Kay & her bf Rich from Philly, LSL from Seattle, Lady C from Sacramento, etc. etc. Spent as much time with my family as I could, had a big catch up with my brother M. And last, sorting out my tedious immigration crap. HAH! I saw the amazing Miami Horror band from Melbourne Australia. We shopped for about 3 hours inside the mega-Forever 21. In N' Out w/ Lady C, I watched Jersey Shore with Dre & Belinda. Talked to my brother until like 3 in the morning in an empty parking lot while eating Del Taco, had drinks at the Crown N' Anchor & played Stone Roses on the jukebox in memory of my good times with A2, caught up w/ some Channel 13ers, had dinner at the Firefly w/ the girls & Chcuck! and did a little bit of lady shopping with Ash =)

I'll of course post all of my pictures, but here are some of my favourites from the first night:

September 2010
This is happiness

I stole this one from Kay =P

Well the good news is I'll hopefully be back home again in 9 months and something even better just after that! Yeah! (See, I'm not so manic when my visits are a little bit more frequent.)

Young At Heart = Amazing Weekend

As bad as this week was, it ended so amazingly. On Wednesday C4 (Music/entertainment channel here) called to let me know that I had won the "meet & greet" with General Fiasco. SWEET! I love this band so much lately and can't stop listening and talking about them. I didn't get the text until Friday morning informing me the sound check party would be at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Wow, I usually work until 5 p.m. It didn't even occur to me as a possibility in my mind. I told my Co-worker J, and he said, "WHAT ARE YOU CRAZY? THIS IS ONCE IN A LIFETIME. ASK BOSS!" Boss laughed and said, "Yes go straight ahead, just make up your time next week." I don't know how I got so lucky, since I've been nothing but a mess this week. And REALLY behind. EEEPS. But next week would be fresh, and I'd get myself together. I promised myself this.

I raced out the door at 3 p.m. The train would arrive at 3:10PM. I'd make it just in time, or at least I hoped. At 3:20PM, I started hyperventilating, wondering why I'd be so lucky and then the complete opposite in just a matter of seconds. FML! The F+CKING (late) train finally arrived at 3:29PM. AURGHHHHHHHHHH!!! I ran out of the train station at Newmarket, dashed to an ATM machine to get some money for a cab. Tried to run after 2 cabs that were already occupied. I didn't have enough credit on my phone to make a call. So I just started walking down the street hoping I'd try my luck. Amazingly, I walked into taxi-cab alley. My cab-driver stopped reading his paper, and drove me through every back alley on the way to Mt. Eden Powerstation. I arrived at 3:47 p.m. just in time to watch Owen Strathern play this song
<3: br="">
(This isn't the ACTUAL sound check that I watched btw)

I love this song so much more after seeing him perform it twice.
It's so much better live btw!

There were only about 15 other people inside. I talked to some guy from one of the opening bands (Pistol Youth?) about him living in Los Angeles (West Coast represent now put your...). And then my favourite lads from Northern Ireland walked out. We sat on a couch and talked. They have beautiful Irish accents. I took a few photos of them and with them.

After the show, Owen was accosted by legions of screaming fans. Pubescent girls screaming telling him, "I LOVE YOU, OWEN." I couldn't stop laughing. He would laugh too, bc it was so sweet and so comical at the same time. Chris (my fiance) HAHAHA, groaned saying that I needed to get out of there, and I'd be waiting forever to get another photo with them. I guess it would be pretty annoying! But Audrey my lovely advocate, cheered me on practically saying that I could knock all of these girls out, and "JUST GET IN THERE!" I'm not that aggressive.
SO many screaming girls! LOLZ

Fortunately, the bouncers organised a line, and I was able to get this photo with Owen. =) I asked him if he thought it would be like this in AKL. He said, "I was told it would be, but I didn't know..."

Owen and his perfect hair

They also played a song that hasn't been released yet, but funnily enough it's called
"Desert Hearts." That's not the only reason why I love it.

I love Burberry and General Fiasco.

I love General Fiasco when they're so class wearing Burberry!
This is from the Burberry Acoustic sessions, which I just found out about tonight.

And since you're curious about this band here's an amazing interview from Coup De Main.

The rest of my weekend was spent laughing, drinking and eating with Chris, Audrey, Jeff & Nancy in the Coromandel. We walked around Hot Water beach and Cathedral Cove, and took a million photos. What a perfect weekend.

Introducing Mr. & Mrs. Ducky!

Chris and I are getting married in 6 months! The time is going so fast, it really hasn't hit me just yet. As an engagement present, our friend Jeff gave us these adorable ducks.

Thanks Jeff!

Hello this is me: JV

Hello dear blog number 3!

If you knew of the first one, you'd be embarrassed for me. Its locked now. Peacefully put to sleep! If you know of blog number two, then you're a good friend/livejournal'er who likes to keep in touch. I will continue to write there too! Don't worry =)

Let me introduce myself:

My friends mostly call me Jen Vegas.

I was born in Philadelphia and grew up in bright-lights-medium-big-city Las Vegas. Hence, me being liberal and free-spirited. Yes, there is an actual city/life outside of the Las Vegas strip and the insanity you see on television and movies. (Please leave your opinions and your generalisations about Las Vegas somewhere else, it's not wanted here!)

I live in Auckland, New Zealand (hence the Queen's English).

I am in the 20-something range.
I've been a vegetarian for nearly 10 years. It's a personal choice, and I don't judge others for their own lifestyle decisions.

I am obsessed with music. I can't handle pretentious conversations about music though, so leave your snark elsewhere. Not here.

I usually see more than I let on to believe. I cannot fake nor hide my true feelings about people/situations etc.

I love my family, fiance and friends to bits.

I love to dance but this rarely ever happens anymore. I love photography and used to be a professional portrait- studio photographer.

I love U.S. politics, in a dream life I'd work for C-SPAN. In another dream life, I'd be a clothing designer, but maybe instead I'll become a graphic/web designer.
I want to learn how to sew.

My favourite cities are Philadelphia, NYC, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Madrid, Montreal, Melbourne (That's in Australia! and it's a new favourite).

I have become painfully shy (all over again) living in a foreign country. My social skills are dwindling, but as soon as I get back home I'll shrug it off in no time.

I wish I looked like Sienna Miller with the style, grace and wardrobe of Jackie O, Twiggy, Anna Karina & Blair Waldorf.

Okay that's enough about me! On with the blog now...
