South Island Nov. 2011 (part five)

Continuing on from my South Island updates...
After our drive through Otago, we finally made it to our destination of beautiful resort town Queenstown, New Zealand! If you ever come to this part of the world, it's a MUST SEE place. Don't skip Queenstown in the South Island! It's absolutely lush, majestic and everything you'd expect it to be from the movies. (Lord of the Rings, Narnia, Avatar etc.)

I tried to channel my inner adventurer spirit settling into a new land.

It rained on and off, so we stayed inside our cozy room drinking wine listening to old punk music. It was so relaxing not having to be anywhere. When we left for the night, we ate some AMAZING pizza at Winnie's!

I WISH WE COULD EAT FOOD LIKE THIS AND NEVER GAIN WEIGHT. SIGH* I love pizza and Queenstown. :)

Happy birthday to my love!

We've had an awesome weekend celebrating Chris' birthday. I planned a surprise dinner with our close friends and drinks at DOC. The next day we went to Waitomo to look at the glorious caves. Later we relaxed at home and ate burritos! Today we went out to brunch, bought a suitcase and started packing in prepartion for our new life.

WIWT: A Day in Newmarket

I went into work this last Saturday for a few hours (lots of OT lately!), as a reward Chris & I decided to treat ourselves to lunch and a movie in Newmarket.

We watched the new X-men movie, and wow! It was really good. I'm sure you'll enjoy looking at watching James Mcavoy. LOL! I was really impressed with the whole different cast. I thought "Tony Stonem" from Skins played such a loveable nerd. I am always fascinated when people can fake accents from different countries. I was a tom boy in my day. I could really have a nerdy conversation with you about all the X-men and family lines :) I really enjoyed seeing the storyline between Mystique & Xavier as kids, heartbreaking and sweet for a comic book story!

WIWT: Mad Men Crazed

Hello my friends, our internet is back = I'm back! (We went over our data limit) I've missed reading your blogs and have over 800 blogs to catch up on in Google reader. Yeah, I follow a lot of blogs. :)

While waiting for our internet to restart up again, we watched the whole first season of Mad Men. If you haven't noticed, 1960s fashion is what I die for. I wore this outfit about two weekends ago, and sadly this dress has been in my closet for the last TWO years! $4 purchase :) This is why I love style blogging. I'm getting some use out of my never worn vintage pieces. This reminds me of something Peggy from Mad Men would wear, but I need a fascinator to go with it.

We enjoyed the sunshine in the city and took a stroll along the ferry terminal.

Little French Cafe

March 2011

Chris & I have enjoyed eating our way through Auckland the last few years. On Queen St., there's a cute little French Cafe that I have walked past for the last year. I randomly thought of going there on one Saturday afternoon. It's also surrounded by dozens of Asian restaurants. We could probably try every restaurant and cafe on that street, and it'd take a least a few months!

Before going to the cafe we walked around K-road looking at the various antique//op shops.

Thanks for looking.

PS. Our internet is so super slow right now, and I haven't been able to read blogs for the last week. It'll be back at full speed on Tuesday when our data capacity resets. :( I can't wait to catch up!

WIWT: Red, White & Blue, Enjoying the City & Sunshine

It's a weekend tradition where husband Chris & I venture into the city for sushi and absorbing the good old city life. I'm amazed the sun has been shining the past few weekends, just in time for my style blogs! Chris has been so good at helping out and getting involved with this whole operation :) And his eye for photography is also exploding! Everywhere we went today, he kept talking about how the skyline or some little peek of the city would be a great photo. :)

First, we started with our usual pics in front of our flat.

After lunch, we enjoyed our afternoon at Albert Park, spent the afternoon looking at trees, fall foliage, people watching and seeing other people also shooting style pictures too!

It was funny because a few people walked past and just stood there hanging out. Chris told me, "Who cares? Just go back over there and continue." something like that. :)

He also pointed out these three little birdies having a bath. I almost didn't even notice!
