South Island Nov. 2011 (part eight)

After three lovely days in Queenstown it was time for us to leave.

We drove through cute small town New Zealand on the way to Dunedin.

Before going to the Dunedin airport, we stopped at Baldwin Street and burned hundreds of calories walking up! It's known as "the steepest street in the world"

Two people ran up and then ran down. I could barely make it up! We saw a postwoman heavily panting while delivering the mail :)

It was a wonderful trip and a wonderful birthday present to myself :) I'm glad I finally got to see the South Island.

South Island Nov. 2011 (part six)

Thanks for reading along!!! I have a backlog of pictures, and they seem less relevant now that my memory is fading. This is why I need to blog in the moment and NOT when life becomes an after thought. HAH!

We went on the cable cars! Spectacular views even though it was drizzling!

We went on the "Million Dollar Cruise." We got a $9,999,950 discount, totally worth it!

South Island Nov. 2011 (part five)

Continuing on from my South Island updates...
After our drive through Otago, we finally made it to our destination of beautiful resort town Queenstown, New Zealand! If you ever come to this part of the world, it's a MUST SEE place. Don't skip Queenstown in the South Island! It's absolutely lush, majestic and everything you'd expect it to be from the movies. (Lord of the Rings, Narnia, Avatar etc.)

I tried to channel my inner adventurer spirit settling into a new land.

It rained on and off, so we stayed inside our cozy room drinking wine listening to old punk music. It was so relaxing not having to be anywhere. When we left for the night, we ate some AMAZING pizza at Winnie's!

I WISH WE COULD EAT FOOD LIKE THIS AND NEVER GAIN WEIGHT. SIGH* I love pizza and Queenstown. :)

South Island Nov. 2011 (part four)

On the morning we left Dunedin, we ran through the rain and drank coffee inside a cozy cafe. It rained and rained.
Photobucket
The countryside was really beautiful: hills, mountains, sheep and fog. You could see the terrain change throughout Otago.

We stopped in a small town called Alexandra.

We went to a farmers market, and it reminded me out of something in the "Elizabethtown" movie.

And more stops throughout the Otago countryside.

And then we passed through Cromwell, the landscapes became more and more majestic.
Roll on Queenstown!
