Urban Spaces

Photobucket Hello! This photo was taken at the open urban space in our neighborhood. I just finished working 9 days in a row! I feel like a damn champ. I'm not quite at my healthiest right now and had a few emo days in-between, but I'm doing much better now. I leave for the airport in about six hours, so the light is finally at the end of this tunnel. I'm going to Vegas! (for my mother's birthday; she lives there.) :) If I didn't have my camera phone, I wouldn't remember all the leisurely things that I've been up to lately. Happy hour at Bleu's with LSL, giggling inside Value Village after that happy hour session, Beecher's Mac n' Cheese, chai latte at Cafe Ladro, hanging out at the park with C&P & Chance, exploring vintage sportswear shops, being extremely excited about a UNLV Runnin' Rebels shirt, taking the ferry over to West Seattle, eating lunch on the pier with Chris, meeting the fine people at Chris' place of work, watching Moonrise Kingdom, eating at Poquitos, helping some Seattleites fill their car with gas.

ModCloth Dream Closet

Have you seen this video of Susan Gregg Koger aka. ModCloth founder and chief! It's her closet and personal house of clothes.

Back in 2006, a few of my girl friends started linking the Modcloth website onto my MySpace comments! When I moved to New Zealand in 2008, I couldn't afford international shiping but adored the website from afar. I think her startup story is amazingly inspiring.

Houndstooth Obsession

If you know me very well, you'll notice that I have an obsession with a particular geometric pattern...HOUNDSTOOTH! I tend to gravitate and purchase money on anything houndstooth and bold prints. It's my downfall.

Chris and I had Sunday off, so we ate comfort foods like biscuits and coffee. We tried the world famous Beecher's mac n' cheese! So delicious, but I felt so guilty afterward. We walked for a good three hours that day, so that helped a little bit.

Everytime we go into the city, we notice something new at Westlake Park. Photobucket
Where's Chris?

hey, hey break it up!

We walked past Pioneer Square. Next up on our agenda, explore this part of the city.

And the perfect day had to be topped off with this stunning view, a few blocks away in our neighborhood!

I'm going to get my DSLR camera back soon. PHEW*
Thanks for reading this!

In The City There's A Thousand Things I Want To Say To You

PhotobucketPhotobucket

My schedule is pretty inconsistent lately, so I haven't had as much time to explore our new city. (compared to when we first moved here as unemployed sloths) Last, last week and yesterday, Chris and I did have one glorious day where we wandered around our neighborhood and over to the pier which is SO CLOSE to us! It was at least three hours of walking! It was such a good day.

Summer Wish List

Seattle is still hovering in the low 40s to high 60s. They always say that summer hits after the fourth of July. The rain (if you even call it that) is a slow drizzle, and I'm so appreciative for that. You really can't compete with the torrential rain of the tropics and sub-tropics!

We've had some beautiful days here.

This summer I hope to:

-visit our friends in Portland
-explore some secret beaches
-eat at the Honey Hole
-see a couple of Seattle museums
-find the best Indian restaurant Seattle has to offer
-explore some small towns in the Washington/Oregon state area
-more karaoke at Rock Box
-visit my family at least once
-Thanksgiving in July
-take a dance class
-take some photos on my lomography camera
-collect more 90s/millenium indie/emo music
-go on a ferry ride

I think all of these are within reach!

Much Love Monday: June 4, 2012

Happy early Monday. These two recent and very honest blog entries really spoke out to me recently.

Letting Go, Moving On
How I Made The Escape
I have never been one to hide my true feelings and always appreciate honesty. Even if it's raw and not ideal. Lots of love to these ladies!

I've been a little bit bored in the land of TV! I don't know what to do without New Girl, Gossip Girl (and Australia's Offspring show!) #firstworldproblemsiknow , so I decided to watch this: Photobucket
Don't Trust the B**** In Apartment 23
It is so bad that it's good. :) Hope you have a nice week!

Four Years

Photobucket
Chris and I celebrated our 4-year-anniversary on Thursday! I had absolutely no idea where we'd be eventually. USA, New Zealand or elsewhere? We're finally starting our new life together in Seattle some four years later. The past few years have been an immigration headache. Canada? USA? NZ working-holiday visa turning into working visas to residency applications, then a US green card. Here's an excellent blog entry by the great James Robinson...
The International Relationship Rollercoaster
This basicaly sums it up. Lots of money, sweat and tears. I'm so over it. I don't have much to say.
In the meantime, I'm looking forward to our first North American summer together! I'll be making a summer wish list. Chris also landed his first job overseas, so things are really looking up for us :) I'm really proud of him! <3
