Freedom Summer!

Hello, I'm back! Here's an attempt at a self portrait. I'm wearing a vintage dress from Etsy.

The last few weeks have become a blur. We introduced Jonah to Wellington. We caught up with Ryler and watched a Kiwi-Chinese garage band from Shanghai. Our accommodation reminded me of old Soviet style buildings painted over with primary Crayola colours. I didn't run into Nik from Junica. I am still bummed about that. We went to Laneway Music fest. I met John Campbell and saw my favourite band The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, we went coffee hopping on K-road. We walked Jonah up Mt. Eden, took angel photos at Bastion Point before he left. We went to Karapiro Lake and drove around the Waikato countryside. We have lots to plan for the next few months!

WIWT: Wellington Part Five...Cable Cars, City Views, Walks & Beehive

On our last day in Wellington, we soaked up as much of the city as we could.
This was my second time there, and we were fortunate to finally ride the Cable Car which overlooks the city with stunning views!
Remember: Wellington, New Zealand! You must visit this place if you're ever down here.

Wellington Part Four: Dancing & Cityscapes

Thanks for looking at all my Wellington blog entries. I know it's photo overload, but there's so much to see in Welly! I have one more post after this, and it'll document what I wore.

Continuing on...after the party in Newtown, Chris' friends Jared & Luella picked us up much later, and we went dancing for a couple hours at Mighty Mighty. If you love dancing and indie/new wave music, this is the place! I had so much fun. I haven't danced like that in ages.





I don't even know who this guy is or how this got started, but he posed for me! HAHAHA! He was really nice, and then he grabbed his friends to also join him :)




After dancing, we had a late night kebab stop (vege for us!). Chris' old flatmate Hans was insanely hilarious. He pulled breath mints out of the inside of his coat, like it was a magic trick!




The next day we walked around the city for a bit and had tea/coffee with Andrew & Fiona.

WIWT: Wellington Part Two

Hello my friends,
Hope you're having a lovely weekend.

Here's more photos from last weekend when we were in Wellington, NZ (!!!!) This is the city where my loves the Flight of the Conchords are from. I didn't see Bret, Jemaine, the Prime Minister nor Nik from Junica. Just a few Wellingtonians I would have LOVED to meet! Oh well :( We hung out on Lambton Quay and the Cuba Quarter, where I scored the most amazing coat at the Saturday market. We also purchased a massive carrot cupcake, ginger crunch and macaroon. <3 br="">
If you've seen the movie "Eagle vs. Shark" this is where it was filmed! The last time I was here, our friend pointed out all the shops in the movie.

I wish I could get paid to do this all day, wander around aimlessly around cute cities and towns.

















Chris thinks Wellington is more "my kind of city" compared to Auckland. I think I'd be happy staying anywhere if I could take a mini-trip at least once every 3-4 months. Yeah, I'm not that hard to please. REALLY :) That was part of my old life living in the desert. I always looked forward to getting away. I know I won't be able to do this soon enough when I eventually take on more responsibilities as an adult. Sigh*

Wellington Part One

Upon arrival in Wellington, our trip turned into a mad dash, attempting to absorb the city life and catching up with friends.





We checked into our hotel on Lambton Quay, and then went to Sweet Mother's Kitchen! A southern style/soul food/Tex Mex kinda restaurant. The store had New Orlean's Saints flyers all around. Reminds me of my friend DeAndre. Bless!












After that, we ended up at Cuba Club? It was located in some non-descript building. It was amazing on the inside! Too bad I didn't get any photos inside. I'm not aggressive enough with my camera. We sat outside in the back.

Fly To The States

It's been a crazy day and crazy week. Medical emergencies (not me), heavy work volumes, projects due and deadlines looming. In order to cheer myself up, I booked my trip to visit home in August! YESSSSSSSS. It may have been a bit presumptuous of me, but it had to be done! I miss Las Vegas (and America in general) so damn much. It has crippled my social skills where I just don't connect with anybody. It's something that I struggle with frequently. I'm going through this almost-mid-life crisis, constantly daydreaming about the good old days. In celebration of my trip, I'll have to post some unforgettable Vegas memories.


Chris & I also booked our accomodation for our Wellington trip! Family Cactus and Cut Off Your Hands are playing shows in the capitol city. I'm really happy with that.


This is my favourite band from Wellington singing about flying to the States. So fitting :)

Well, we have a lot to look forward to. We just have to survive through this cold winter.
