Kendra's Night Out In My Crazy Hometown, Las Vegas!

If you've ever had a chance to visit Las Vegas, I recommend going right now! February and March are the most pleasant months to enjoy the sun, the outdoors, shows, concerts, salons, malls, spas, pools, casinos, and of course, the 4.2-mile strip. I hope you venture outside of that too because there's lots to be done outside of that neon carnival!

Travel expert Kendra Thornton asked me to put together a day look and night look for her big trip to Vegas! AKA. "Kendra's Night Out" Challenge. As a busy mother, she explains that she doesn't keep up with the latest trends. I hope you like what I've put together. :)
Kendra's Night Out

Fun fact* - See that Googie mid-century modern star (yes, that's how it's spelled NOT Google) on the sign? My husband and I have matching tattoos of that star. As a former Las Vegas resident of nearly 20 years, I love that place and the silly, loving people in it! (Also, check out my LOCALS' GUIDE TO LAS VEGAS HERE!)

Kendra, I hope you have a wonderful time in Vegas!

You can read more about her plans here.

"A couple months ago, some of my friends decided to go to Las Vegas for a night, and they invited me to go as well. I was thrilled at a chance to go back to Las Vegas. I usually went with my husband, but since we have three children, I have not gone for a while. My wardrobe would not fit in with the style and culture of Las Vegas, since we will be staying the night at the Palms Casino & Resort. Therefore, my friends have created a challenge called “Kendra’s Fashion Challenge.” This challenge that they have undertaken is trying to identify cute outfits that I should wear while we are at the Palms Casino & Resort. It will be interesting to see what they will do, as I am in desperate need.

After our plane lands in the city, we plan to immediately visit the casino after we drop our bags off in our rooms. There is quite a rush that we feel as we visit various tables and slot machines. After spending a few hours there, we will go back to our rooms, change for dinner and try a nice selection of delicious foods that are available at the Palms Casino & Resort. We will stop by the Moon Nightclub for some dancing. After this, we will take things to the next level by going up to The View. This amazing place has an incredible view that proudly displays the entire city skyline. The View creates an ideal environment to meet new people, try new drinks, soak in the atmosphere and truly relax. If talking gets old after a while, there are board games that are available to play.
One of the things that I really enjoy about Las Vegas is that it is quite unique. It has a brand that is special and experiential which I think is fabulous. It really doesn’t matter whether someone is alone or in a group, since there are numerous things that can be done. People can visit a luxurious bar, stay at one of the top hotels in the city, eat memorable food at decent prices, go to a show and so much more. When my girls and I tried to plan the trip we found ourselves a bit overwhelmed. This is why we turned to the consumer reviews on Gogobot to pick exactly where we wanted to go! The only question that I have has to do with what clothes my friends will select for me to wear!" - Kendra Thornton, travel advocate

  1. Hi Jen! I've been reading your blog for a while - I came across your livejournal many years ago. My boyfriend and I are traveling to Las Vegas in April. It will be my first time going there. Do you have any suggestions for places to see or eat? I looked at your posts tagged "Las Vegas" and I see you recommend going to the Stratosphere and In-n-Out - those are definitely on my list! Any other recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! - Ruthanne in NYC

    1. Hi, Ruthanne!

Thanks for writing me! Wow, Livejournal days? That's awesome. I still write there occasionally. Are you still on LJ too?

I have a TON of suggestions. Will you have a car while you're there? Definitely check out the the Bellagio indoor garden and the dancing water fountain at nighttime. The Fireside Lounge inside the Peppermill diner is great. I've been asked for some recommendations recently too, so I will put together a blog entry with some ideas on Sunday. I hope you enjoy Vegas. :)
